How do you stay connected to 51�� College? For the past 15 years I’ve been the official football team DC for the University of South Carolina and in that time, I have sent at least 17 students to 51��. I remain in contact with these students, and they keep me up to date with the happenings at 51��.

Most Memorable Classmate: To be honest I cannot single out one of my friends, we had a small group of us who were really tight, and we banded together and made the years fly by. Mark Centrelli, Frank Segreto, Mike Dalton, Jim Herald, and Mike Nirenstein, each one was special and my memories of us at school still warm my heart to this day.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: That is extremely difficult, but I think if I had to choose one it would be Dr. Les Wise. His passion and knowledge for the profession was immense and he was excellent at passing that knowledge along. This was why I applied and was accepted to extern with him, and we remained friends, his passing was very sad.

Fun (brief) Memory: I have a very good brief memory and I hope it translates well. We were in Dr. John Porter’s technique class and by this time I knew it all. I was being critiqued and the entire class surrounded me as I set up on my patient. Dr. Porter walks over to my table and inspects my technique and positioning and his critique was priceless and remains part of our conversations to this day. He said “Cohen! You’re on the wrong side, doing the wrong move!” And without another word he moved on, hilarity ensued and we still laugh about it to this day

Favorite Lyceum Memory: Probably when I received the distinguished service award from 51�� College.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? Total inclusion and diversity of thought.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I know Chiropractic works, I’ve seen it firsthand for 35 years and I think the school should use its natural resources (Students) to prove it with some internal studies showing the efficacy of the profession. I have a few ideas if anyone is interested but I think 51�� can take the lead and prove to the world what chiropractic and chiropractic adjustments can achieve.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? I am active in 51��’s Animal Chiropractic Club, have many 51�� students shadow me in practice, and care for many of our 51�� family’s pets.

Most Memorable Classmate: Miranda Mistoler LaFrage and Sarah Roseberry Stewart (AKA “The Triplets”)

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Dr. Kenya!

Fun (brief) Memory: Our class was the very last class to endure a 1st quarter “Bagel Fest”. Bagel Fest was the welcome back celebration that included the new first quarter having to sing and dance while the rest of the school booed loudly and enjoyed free bagels! It was all in great fun.

Favorite Lyceum Memory: My very first Lyceum as a student I heard Dr. Jay Komarek lecture about animal chiropractic and watched him adjust a horse. This was my first introduction to animal chiropractic, and the moment that set me on my career path to becoming an animal chiropractor.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? I am impressed with the addition of the new Gelardi Student Center and the renovations to the old buildings. The campus looks amazing.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I would love to see 51�� add an AVCA approved animal chiropractic program!

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Doug Gates & Les Wise; Graham Dobson, another major influencer on me throughout my career in Chiropractic

Fun & Sad (brief) Memory: I actually failed Thom Gelardi’s 1st Quarter Philosophy class 801. This was a serious problem as a transfer student. I sat with Thom for hours going over every question, defending why I believed I deserved an extra point here and there as Thom defended why not. Thom was fair every step of the way as we negotiated a point here and a point there. Once I reached my predetermined minimum to get a passing grade, I stopped the negotiations, totally exhausted. What stood out most was how Thom listened to my every perspective on each question. I learned so much more during that time than I could have received anywhere else.

Favorite Lyceum Memory: 1999 when 51�� dedicated Lyceum to me. OMG! It was only the 2^nd time a Lyceum was ever dedicated to an individual.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? The Physical Campus.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? Emphasis on Chiropractic as a NON-THERAPEUTIC profession. Chiropractic cannot survive duplicating the objective of therapeutic profession.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? I proudly and humbly serve on the Board of Trustees of the College and my daughter, Tatiana, is a student in the DC2B Class of ’24.

Most Memorable Classmate: My most memorable classmate, who became my amazing husband, is Dr. Victor Bazzani. Another amazing classmate is Dr. Mark Moyers.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Without a doubt, Dr. Tony Duke.

Fun Memory: Rafting, hiking, bottle-rocket wars, being in school with my brother, Ron. Just being around amazing, philosophical, and fun people! I feel so blessed!

Favorite Lyceum Memory: I have always loved connecting with our 51�� founders, Drs. Thom & Betty Gelardi, at Lyceum. Seeing their interactions with attendees and 51�� students throughout Lyceum sessions and activities is really special. After founding 51�� 50 years ago, they are still dedicated to the core and remain devoted to our students, employees and our mission to adjust the world for a better future.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? The campus is simply beautiful and has grown so much! The staff and faculty remain top-notch and the best around!

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I would like to see more students destined to become the best chiropractors, correcting vertebral subluxations, and making the world a better place! It is as simple as that.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? I am connected to 51�� College each year through a variety of opportunities. I have been a Children Chiropractic Foundation liaison with 51�� for 10 years, and I am active in the Hong Kong Spinal Campus Program; to date, over 300 schools have joined. Additional 51�� connections include celebrating World Spine Day annually in Hong Kong and participating in a charity golf tournament and scholarship program.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Dr. Clayton and Dr. Thom Gelardi

What has been the best improvement for 51�� since you were a student? The new decorations to the original 51�� buildings have transformed the college, especially the Thom and Betty Gelardi Student Center.

What would you like to see at 51�� College? It is especially important to continue teaching chiropractic core values and principles connected with business running.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? My favorite way to stay connected is by attending Lyceum every year! I also have become friends with many of the professors and do my best to stay in touch with them. My office is open for 51�� students to shadow or intern as well, so that is a new and fun way for me to stay connected.

Most Memorable Classmate: Al Coston Jr. is by far my most memorable classmate. He was married and raising five daughters while in chiropractic school and I have no idea how he did it. I was young, single, and used to being in school, so it was always easy for me. Now that I own a business and have two young daughters, I often think about Al’s responsibilities while we were in school and am impressed with how well he managed the intensity of chiro school!

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: If I had to pick just one it would easily be Dr. Sarah Stephens. She was my case doctor and truly taught me everything I know about being a great chiropractor. I used to struggle with adjusting skills in the clinic and she took me under her wing to show me her ways! She had extremely high expectations which played a huge role in my success as a chiropractor. It was also amazing to be taught my clinical skills by another fierce female chiropractor! I am forever grateful for her!

Fun Memory: Do they still make the kids jump off those two poles out in the parking lot before getting into the clinic? Because I remember being scared as could be to climb up that thing, trying to balance with my two feet, and trusting another classmate to hold and support my rope as I jumped! But we all did it and survived and it was a great bonding experience to conquer our fears into new beginnings!

Favorite Lyceum Memory: My favorite and most influential memory at Lyceum w hearing Dr. Jeanne Ohm speak for the first time. I am so grateful to have been taught by her and heavily influenced by her to have a home birth and trust my body’s innate intelligence. Hearing her speak moved me to tears and her words will stick with me for a lifetime.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? When I went to school there it looked exactly as it did in the 1970s! The beautiful new buildings and student areas are amazing! 51�� needed a facelift to support its growth and they did a wonderful job.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? 51�� has done a much better job getting women on their stage which is important representation for our female students, so this needs to continue! I would also like to see more real-world applications for business development at 51��. 51�� graduates some of the best chiropractors and adjusters in the world. Still, it is important for them to understand how to grow and run a business so that more people can be exposed to the healing powers of chiropractic care

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? Professor- having fun with my students, coming to Lyceum, participating in Showcase, etc.

Most Memorable Classmate: Amiliah Kenya

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Dr. Clayton (taught anatomy)

Fun (brief) Memory: I had a class from 5-6pm and most of the time I was dozing off during the class. It was embryology. I was just so tired.

Favorite Lyceum Memory: There are several, but the most memorable was making breakfast for the doctors on a Sunday morning after Lyceum. Just being able to spend time with them was great! We did it with Christian Chiropractic club, but all docs were welcome. I also used to bring my guitar and play; it was a really good time!

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? Oh man, the lab! The lab used to be terrible. The tanks were really low, and we used to crank them up. The buildings are all looking really great, but the labs are so much better (maybe because I teach and spend a lot of time in the lab). It’s cleaner and nice. It never looked like this.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I would like the school to have housing that way the first quarter students are able to come in and have a place to stay. Some of them are coming from way out and need to get acclimated to the area. I would also like to see expansion.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? I dedicated many years to 51�� College. I had the honor of serving 20 years on The Board of Trustees and 6 of those 20 years as the first Woman Chair of The Board. I created ‘Chiro Cruise’ as a fundraiser for 51�� where family and friends traveled to different ports of call and CE credits were earned. I was also a Regent, Career Advisor, and part of ROAR for many years. Currently, I am serving my practice members, checking their spines for Vertebral Subluxations, and educating them about living a life free of them.

Most Memorable Classmate: My Ex-Husband Lee Fraum is my most memorable classmate. I met Lee on the first day of school and he became my best friend. After graduating, we married and have three sons Josh, Brandon, and Jake.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Tony Duke was my favorite instructor. He taught his subject matter with such an understanding of innate intelligence and how the body works that it made sitting in his class and learning such a delight.

Fun Memory: Lee and I had an amazing Halloween Party at our home one year. Lee and I dressed up as unrecognizable monsters. All evening long fellow attendees walked around asking, “Have you seen Lee?” “Have you seen Cindy?” “Are they even here?”

Favorite Lyceum Memory: All Lyceums were great; sharing precious time with people who love what you love. If I had to choose one, it would be my first Lyceum at the groundbreaking for the college, which I attended with my chiropractor, Ernie Landi. I had known that I wanted to be a chiropractor since I was 5 years old, and Lyceum set in my mind that 51�� College was the place to be! Then later, another favorite memory was eating at the very memorable Beacon.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? The Thom and Betty Gelardi Student Center.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I would like to see 51�� College continue leading the world as the finest chiropractic institution where students learn the philosophy of chiropractic and the science and art of adjusting.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? My husband, Dr. Chris, and I are Regents, members of the Alumni Association and participate in Lyceum. I am also an Assistant Professor at 51�� in Clinical Sciences.

Most Memorable Classmate: My two best friends in college were Dr. Laura Chadwick, and Dr. Donna Kelly. We had a wonderful class with so many great classmates. Our class was the first to have the females outnumber the guys two to one.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Drs. Sheldon Clayton, Gary Vidrine, Anthony Duke, and Ralph Boone. I could not pick just one, these instructors were great.

Fun Memory: Bagel fest and Spizz day skits were always a lot of fun while getting to know the new students and enjoying bagels. I also worked in the bookstore while a student and enjoyed my time there.

Favorite Lyceum Memory: I always enjoyed the Big Tent Philosophy events. We heard so many wonderful speakers like Dr. Gelardi, Dr. Reggie Gold, and Dr. Sigafoose among other giants in the profession. I remember the passion and excitement for the profession. I just loved listening to these wonderful and inspiring speakers as a student.

What has been the best improvement to 51�� you have seen since you were a student? By far I think the new Gelardi Student Center, Scallon and Olsen buildings renovations and moving the academics to incorporate advanced technology for the students are some of the best improvements since I was a student.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? I would like to see 51�� remain the preeminent chiropractic institution as it is today. The profession has so much to offer the communities of our world and 51�� helps prepare chiropractors to serve our communities. Drs. Betty and Thom Gelardi have left a legacy and impact on the profession that cannot be measured but will continue to have a lasting impact on countless lives. I am grateful to them and so many others who sacrificed and shared their vision for 51�� College.

How do you stay connected to 51�� College? I have come back to campus to speak to students about starting their own practice. I also host technique nights for students who are interested in how to effectively use the Thompson Technique.

Most Memorable Classmate: Barbie Rosenberg, it’s not every day you meet someone who survived being kidnapped by a bear and went on the Maury Show to talk about it. That is something you never forget.

Favorite 51�� College Instructor: Beth Reizer. It’s as simple as that.

What was your 51�� ah-ha moment? After our first-quarter finals, we all went out to celebrate surviving and everyone was dancing. I realized at that moment these classmates of mine, who were going through this journey with me, were more than friends, we were family.

Favorite Lyceum Memory: Meeting with my former classmates at the annual gala. It is always fun!

What has been the best improvement to 51��? The new student center, hands down.

What would you like to see for 51�� College? A new outpatient clinic.
